In the Spotlight

By Lindsey Ruzza

In the Spotlight is an original play loosely based on the mental, physical, and sexual abuse perpetrated by the artistic director at the Profiles Theatre in Chicago. Through an honest portrayal of the questions that come up when creating a piece of art, Violet finds herself in an abusive situation that she doesn't quite know how to handle. Maya, the newcomer to the theatre, forms an unlikely friendship with Violet, and together they explore the uncharted territory of what abuse means in the theatre world.
